In the "view" menu, change the "view depth" to "main." Then run the statistics feature. The number of entries will be just the main headings. Cheers, Carol ......
Addendum: Perhaps it's different in Cindex for Mac (which I believe Carol uses), but in Cindex for Windows you have to be in Draft mode view for the Depth...
